asked the Minister for Education, in view of the Government policy on job sharing in the public service and in view of the fact that job sharing schemes have been implemented in almost all other areas of the public service, when she proposes to introduce job sharing arrangements for secondary school teachers; and whether such arrangements will be in place for the school year 1989-90.

The introduction of a scheme of job sharing arrangements for secondary teachers is under consideration in my Department. The matter has not yet reached a stage where proposals can be put formally to the relevant managerial and teaching interests for their views.
