Vol. 387 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tourist Concessions.

43.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any plans to introduce duty free petrol vouchers to encourage tourism.

44.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any plans to reduce excise duties on car rental fleets and coach tours fleets.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

I have no plans for the introduction of a duty-free petrol voucher scheme or for the reduction of excise duties on car rental and tour coach fleets. I should mention that in October last the qualifying criteria for the special VAT refund scheme for the purchase of luxury coaches were relaxed so as to allow a wider variety of coaches to qualify. This will be of benefit to the coach tour industry.
