Vol. 387 No. 4

Written Answers. - Application for Naturalisation.

49.

asked the Minister for Justice the decision on the application of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 for naturalisation, as promised by him in his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 92 of 15 November 1988.

In a reply on 15 November last about the person referred to in the question I stated, inter alia, that his application for naturalisation could be considered independently of the issue of statelessness when he had completed five years residence. Official Report volume 384, columns 302 and 303. He has completed five years residence and I have considered his application. I have decided not to accede to his application at present.

I have also decided to give him permission to remain here for a further year with permission to take up employment on condition that his prospective employer obtains a work permit for him.

I will give further consideration to his application for citizenship in a year's time.
