Vol. 387 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

151.

asked the Minister for Health if he will pay arrears of disabled person's maintenance allowance to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The payment of disabled persons maintenance allowance in any individual case is a matter for the health board concerned having regard to all the circumstances of the case.

I have had inquiries made of the South Eastern Health Board in this case and have been informed that an initial application for the allowance dated 1 May 1988 was refused on medical grounds. Following a change in the person's circumstances, a new application was made on 19 December 1988 and the allowance was granted.

Arrangements are being made for the payment of arrears.
