asked the Minister for Energy in respect of 1973 and 1976 (1) the total energy requirement in tonnes of oil equivalent (2) the total final energy consumption (3) the distribution of final energy consumption distinguishing (a) the industrial sector (b) the domestic sector (c) the commercial sector and (d) the transport sector and (4) the level of electricity usage.

The following is the information requested by the Deputy:

1. Estimated Primary Energy Demand (000's TOE): 1973, 7,083; 1976, 7,039.

2. Estimated Final Energy Consumption (000's TOE): 1973, 5,636; 1976, 5,364.

3. Estimated Final Energy Distribution by Sector (000's TOE) in 1976: Industry, 1,659; Domestic, 1,604; Transport, 1,560; Commercial, 541.

4. Level of Electricity usage (000's TOE): 1973, 540; 1976, 584.

The sectoral breakdown for 1973 is not available as the bulletin "Energy in Ireland", from which the above data are derived, was not commenced until 1975 and the first year for which that document provides a sectoral breakdown is 1976.
