Vol. 387 No. 7

Written Answers. - State Bodies.

45.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the names and functions of the commissions, committees, interdepartmental committees, working parties and State-sponsored bodies established by him and abolished by him since taking office.

Since taking office I have set up the Ireland-France Bicentenary Committee to draw up an official programme of events to mark the Bicentenary of the French Revolution. The Irish-Australian Bicentenary Committee, which was established in May 1986, ceased to function at the end of 1988. I have also established an interdepartmental committee on emigration to co-ordinate activities by various Departments in the field of emigration.

In addition, in consultation with the Taoiseach, an interdepartmental committee, chaired by my Department, has been established on the re-opening of the Ballinamore-Ballyconnell canal.

The Government also established, under the chairmanship of my Department, a task force to consider a major concentration on trade, tourism, investment and other aspects of the economic relationship between Ireland and the Federal Republic of Germany. The task force submitted its report in March 1988.
