Vol. 387 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Budgetary Provisions.

117.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline the special provisions for Tallaght, Dublin 24, made in the 1989 Budget; when it is anticipated that each such item of expenditure will be made; the progress which has been made to date in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A special allocation of £3.5 million was made in the budget to upgrade the industrial infrastructure and to promote industrial development in the Tallaght area. The allocation will be used for the upgrading and development of industrial property in the area, the construction of a special advance factory and the building and development of an enterprise centre. It represents additional expenditure which will give rise to construction jobs this year and provide essential facilities to attract significant new industrial projects to Tallaght in subsequent years.

The detailed arrangements to give effect to the various individual measures are being finalised at present and I expect to be making an announcement in that respect tomorrow.
