Vol. 387 No. 9

Written Answers. - Prosecution of Offences Act, 1974.

55.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has any proposals to amend the Prosecution of Offences Act, 1974, to allow the Director of Public Prosecutions to give reasons, where appropriate or requested, on decisions taken with regard to the institution or discontinuance of prosecutions submitted to his office for consideration; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

For reasons which have been explained in this House on previous occasions, I could not undertake to indicate, by way of reply to parliamentary questions, what specific legislative proposals I might have in a particular area. Any proposals I might have in relation to the subject matter of this question would be announced in the ordinary way in due course.
