Vol. 387 No. 9

Written Answers. - Finglas (Dublin) Garda Requirements.

54.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the urgent need for extra Garda numbers and resources in Finglas, Dublin 11; and when the required improvements will take place.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda strength assigned to Finglas station has been maintained at about the same level over the past few years and the level of indictable crime in the Finglas subdistrict has been held in check. The Garda authorities assure me that this strength is being kept under continuing review and that the back up service provided by specialist units from the divisional headquarters and the Dublin Metropolitan Area headquarters will continue to be available to the local Garda officers as the need arises. They inform me that, having regard to overall demands on Garda manpower in the Dublin Metropolitan Area as a whole, there are no proposals at present to assign additional manpower to Finglas station.
