Vol. 387 No. 10

Written Answers. - Holiday Visa Refusal.

57.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will re-examine the request of a person (details supplied) for a holiday visa for four weeks to revisit a person in County Dublin who is a wheelchair bound relative; the reason the application was initially refused; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department recently refused to sanction an entry visa for the person referred to in the question as it was considered, on the basis of the information available, that he should not be granted one.

While I am satisfied that the decision to refuse the request in question was correct having regard to the information available I have, on re-examination of the application, decided to sanction issue of the visa. It is not the practice, mainly in the interests of applicants and their relations, to disclose reasons why my Department refuses sanction for the issue of visas.
