Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance.

126.

asked the Minister for Health the average delay in deciding applications for disabled person's maintenance allowance applications by health boards; and whether there is a delay because of lack of funds.

The determination of eligibility for a disabled person's maintenance allowance is a matter for health boards. The Minister has asked the health boards if the processing of applications in the case of DPMA could be expedited. As DPMA is payable from the date of application there would be no savings accruing to health boards in the event of a delay.
