Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Kinaffe (County Mayo) School.

140.

asked the Minister for Education, in view of previous commitments given to the management and parents of Kinaffe national school, Swinford, County Mayo, if she will restore a teacher to the school when anticipated enrolment reaches 35 pupils.

Under the regulations governing the appointment and retention of teachers in national schools for the 1989-90 school year, only pupils who have been validly enrolled on 30 September 1988 may be taken into account for the purpose of determining staff numbers except where the provisions of my Department's circular 23/88 relating to maximum class sizes are breached. The enrolment in this school on 30 September 1988 does not warrant the appointment of an additional teacher.
