Vol. 388 No. 3

Written Answers. - Business Studies Programme.

144.

asked the Minister for Education the plans she has for providing schools with a full range of computer equipment or electronic typewriters in order that students can master keyboard skills as outlined in the business studies programme for the new junior certificate.

Computer facilities were made available to all second level schools under schemes operated by the Department in the period 1981 to 1986. As regards the new syllabus in business studies for the junior certificate the position is, as stated in the circular letter issued to schools, that schools may provide the technology elements of the syllabus within existing resources and that for an interim period those elements will be optional in the examination.
