asked the Minister for Health the number of beds for each specialty in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, County Meath, as at (i) January 1987 and (ii) January 1989; the number of staff employed in each grade in this hospital; the original budget for this hospital for each year from January 1986 to January 1989, inclusive; the number of staff in this hospital who have accepted early retirement and/or voluntary redundancy; and the capital moneys spent on this hospital for each year from 1983 to 1989, inclusive.

The number of beds in Our Lady's Hospital, Navan for each specialty in January 1987 and January 1989 is as follows:

There has been no reduction in the bed complement at the hospital.

The North-Eastern Health Board were not in a position to accede to any requests by staff from Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, for early retirement or voluntary redundancy as manning would have been reduced to an unacceptable level.

Capital moneys recouped by my Department to the North-Eastern Health Board for Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, is slightly in excess of £447,000 from 1983 to 1988, inclusive. The amount spent in each year is as follows:
