Vol. 388 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Offaly Schools.

81.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that Clonlisk national school, Shinrone, Birr, County Offaly was approved for three classrooms and a general purpose room in 1986; the present position in regard to the provision of these urgently needed new classrooms and a general purpose room at this school; and the progress to date on this project.

In 1986 my Department agreed in principle to an extension at Clonlisk national school, Shinrone, Birr, County Offaly consisting of three new classrooms and the conversion of the existing school into a general purposes room.

However, it was not possible for this scheme to proceed because of the capital outlay which would have been involved. The question of the project's proceeding on a modified basis is being considered in the context of the available capital and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.

82.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the provision of an additional classroom at Clonmacnoise national school, Clonmacnoise, County Offaly; the present stage which the planning has reached; and when this new room will be built.

The question of the provision of an extension to Clonmacnoise national school, County Offaly is being considered in the context of the capital available for primary schools' building. A decision will be conveyed on the school authorities as early as possible. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when building works may commence.
