Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Unleaded Petrol.

184.

asked the Minister for the Marine if, following the exhortations of the Minister for the Environment in respect of the use of unleaded petrol, he has corresponded with all the semi-State bodies under his aegis directing them to use unleaded petrol in all of the petrol driven vehicles which are under the control, ownership or leasing of those semi-State companies; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have requested all semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department to examine how they can contribute to the campaign to promote the wider use and availability of unleaded petrol. The response from the bodies concerned has been most encouraging and the Deputy can be assured that where practicable, optimum use will be made of unleaded petrol and diesel which is also lead-free.
