Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tara Mines Ores Exports.

301.

asked the Minister for Energy, according to his Department's Estimates, the value of ores exported from Tara Mines, Navan, County Meath since it opened; and the amount of revenue in the form of royalties which has been paid over this period by Tara Mines from the Navan operation.

Information provided by Tara Mines Ltd. and by the Central Statistics Office indicates that lead and zinc concentrates valued at £668,725,000 were exported by the company in the period June, 1977 to the end of 1988.

As the basis for computation of the company's royalty liability to the State is in dispute, no royalty payments have been made by the company to date. Steps are in train to refer the matter to arbitration.
