Vol. 388 No. 8

Written Answers. - Barter Trade With Soviet Union.

30.

asked the Minister for Energy if the proposal to deal with the Soviet Union on a barter basis of goods for oil has any implications for the proposal by other interests to take over the Whitegate Oil Refinery, County Cork.

The proposal to deal with the Soviet Union on a barter basis of goods for oil has no special implications at present for operations at Whitegate. It would be pointless to speculate now on the form of any new arrangements which might be contemplated for Whitegate.
