Vol. 388 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Estate Improvements.

101.

asked the Minister for the Environment the response from Dublin Corporation to his requirements for better estate management and environmental improvements set out in correspondence as preconditions to the sanctioning of phase II of the refurbishment of Darndale Estate, Dublin 5; and if he will insist on a programme of laneway closures and drainage improvements for the entire estate as part of the next phase of the refurbishment scheme.

The corporation have indicated that discussions have been held with local tenant leaders with a view to setting up a local office where a member of the housing estate staff will be available at certain times by arrangement; these matters are now being further pursued with the corporation. The corporation's proposals in relation to environmental improvements are awaited.

The phasing of individual items of work such as those mentioned by the Deputy is a matter for the corporation in the first instance and any proposal they make in this regard will be examined.
