Vol. 389 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wexford National School.

115.

asked the Minister for Education the present position of the application by Kilrane national school, Rosslare Harbour, County Wexford for two additional classrooms; the further stages which have to be processed; and when work will commence as the school has eight teachers but only six classrooms.

Kilrane national school, County Wexford, has a staff of seven teachers and the accommodation consists of six permanent classrooms and a general purposes room.

The chairman of the board of management of the school has applied for a permanent extension to the school. The matter is being considered in the context of the large number of projects in hands and the capital available for primary schools building. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say when building works may commence.

Following approval of any primary school project the planning stages are: preparation of a feasibility study and sketch plans; application for planning permission; preparation of tender documents; invitation and examination of tenders and placing of a contract.
