Vol. 390 No. 3

Written Answers. - Closure of Thurles Night Shelter.

55.

asked the Minister for Health the cost saved to the Exchequer as a result of the closure in November 1988 of night shelter services for the homeless in Thurles, County Tipperary.

The unit was not closed for financial reasons but for safety and security considerations. There is as such no savings to the Exchequer resulting from the closure of the casual unit at Thurles. The health board will necessarily have to use the resources to provide other similar services.
