Vol. 391 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Group Water Scheme.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment the funds which have been allocated for phase 2 of the group water scheme for Lough Easkey, County Sligo; the funds which are available for work on the scheme this year; the parts of the plans for the scheme as submitted by Sligo County Council which he has sanctioned; if all of the scheme has not been sanctioned, his proposals for the remainder of the work; the total cost of the scheme as submitted by Sligo County Council; when work will start on phase 2; the amount of the work which will be completed this year; and when the entire scheme will be completed.

I have recently approved the contract documents for the Lough Easkey water supply scheme, Stage 2, and this approval will allow Sligo County Council to advertise for tenders for the scheme.

Neither the allocation of finance for the scheme nor a decision on the possible commencement or completion dates can be determined until the tendering procedure is completed.

In relation to the scope of the scheme I would refer the Deputy to the replies I gave him to Questions Nos. 209 and 211 of 15 December 1987.
