Vol. 391 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher Appointment.

60.

asked the Minister for Education if approval can be given to the urgently needed remedial teacher for Scoil an Choróin Mhuire, Ballycragh, Firhouse, Dublin 24, which requirement has been fully supported by the child guidance clinic in Tallaght, the school inspectors and the Eastern Health Board; if she will consider giving a special sanction for this remedial teacher for this area having regard to the fact that these children are suffering from economic disadvantage and their educational position could be helped by the appointment; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A committee comprising of officials and my Department, representatives of the INTO and of management are at present examining the question of disadvantage in primary schools.

This matter will also be submitted to the central review committee under the Programme for National Recovery.
