Vol. 392 No. 1

Written Answers. - Free Telephone Rental Allowance.

182.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has had any discussion with the Department of Health about the need to extend the free telephone rental allowance to sufferers of multiple sclerosis.

The free telephone rental allowance is available to elderly or incapacitated persons in receipt of certain social security payments who are living alone or only with children under 15 or with people who are so incapacitated that they could not get help in an emergency. People suffering from multiple sclerosis may qualify for the allowance if they are in receipt of an appropriate payment and satisfy the relevant conditions.
