393.

asked the Minister for Education if she intends to allocate moneys for the provision of extra facilities at Kilmeade national school, Athy, County Kildare; if her attention has been drawn to the needs for the provision of proper accommodation at this school; if she is providing for same in the 1990 Estimates; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A substantial number of improvements have been carried out at this school in recent years with grant aid from my Department. Substantial improvements have recently been completed at Kilmeade national school, County Kildare with grant-aid from my Department. The improvements were general remedial works to school building, the provision of a replacement prefabricated accommodation and toilets, tarmacadamed playspace, and new electrical and heating systems and furniture.

The provision of extra facilities at this school will be considered in the context of the large number of projects on hands and the capital available in 1990. A decision will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.
