asked the Minister for the Marine the reason his Department have introduced major increases in the charges for the storage of boats at the Coal Harbour, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin; if, in view of the fact that many of the boat owners are people with low incomes, he will consider waiving or reducing the charges; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Department of the Marine have recently completed a tidying operation in the boatyard and are now implementing a controlled system of operation to provide an improved facility for the public. The charges, which had not been increased for 30 years, have now been set at a realistic level. The charge for the majority of boat owners will be £30 for the winter storage season which I consider to be fair and reasonable. Boat owners have accepted the necessity for the increase and have paid the revised charge.
