asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the results of investigations carried out by his Department in conjuction with other agencies earlier this year, which investigations included a number of spot checks in beef processing plants; whether any irregularities were discovered; if so, the number; the combined value of any such irregularities; the number of firms involved; the penalties so far imposed and under consideration; whether any prosecutions have been instituted or are under consideration; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
