Vol. 392 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Mayo Farm Development Office.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in appointing a clerk/typist to the Farm Development Division, Castlebar, County Mayo, which has resulted in the non-issue of approval for grants for pollution control.

43.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in issuing approvals for pollution grants from the farm development offices in Castlebar, County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 40 and 43 together.

An officer was transferred from the Farm Development Section in Castlebar to the Department of the Environment in Ballina in June last. A replacement from the appropriate redeployment panel became available on 11 October. That officer is now working on the FDS schemes and should make a considerable impact on any backlog of grant approvals.
