Vol. 392 No. 3

Written Answers. - Installation Aid for Young Farmers.

39.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the labour unit requirement of between one and one-and-a-half man work units rules out about 85 per cent of the otherwise potential applicants under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers; and if he has any plans to reduce this requirement to more attainable levels.

It is a condition of the EC Regulation on which the young farmer installation scheme is based that the applicant has a holding with a minimum labour requirement of one man work unit. In the review of the regulation which is taking place at the moment I am pressing to have this requirement reduced.
