Vol. 392 No. 9

Written Answers. - VAT on Hurleys.

55.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has any proposal to abolish VAT on hurleys in view of the crippling financial burden imposed on GAA clubs due to this tax.

This request has had to be rejected by successive Ministers for Finance over the years because the removal of VAT from hurleys is prohibited under the provisions of EC VAT law. This law is, of course, binding. Accordingly, I have no proposals for a concession in this regard.
