Vol. 392 No. 9

Written Answers. - Naas Hospital.

107.

asked the Minister for Health when he will be in a position to sanction the second and third phases of the development plan for Naas hospital, County Kildare; when the first phase now under construction will be operational; if he will give a possible date for the start of site works relating to the remaining phases of the development; if same will be provided for in the 1990 Estimates; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is expected that the construction and equipping of the new psychiatric unit and ancillary facilities at Naas General Hospital will be completed by mid-1990 and the intention is that commissioning will take place as soon as possible after that.

The health capital programme for 1990 is currently being reviewed in my Department. Pending the outcome of the review it is not possible to say precisely when it will be possible to proceed with the remaining phases of developing this hospital.
