Vol. 393 No. 2

Written Answers. - An Bord Altranais Fees.

37.

asked the Minister for Health if he has satisfied himself regarding the fees being charged by An Bord Altranais to nationals especially those emigrating who have to pay registration abroad; and if there is any way these fees can be reduced.

An Bord Altranais which is the statutory registration body for the nursing profession is a self funding body which derives its main income from fees charged for certain activities such as the registration and verification fees implicitly referred to by the Deputy.

The level of fees to be charged in respect of any such activity is a matter for determination by An Bord Altranais in accordance with section 25 of the Nurses Act, 1985.

I am satisfied that the fees charged by An Bord Altranais are in line with those charged by other professional registration bodies operating in the health area.
