Vol. 393 No. 4

Written Answers. - Kerry School Transport.

196.

asked the Minister for Education if she will provide school transport to Lauragh primary school. County Kerry in respect of nine children from the Fehanaugh area, in view of the fact that it imposes a great hardship on them to walk the long distance to school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A special school transport service may be established and maintained on condition that a minimum daily number of not fewer than ten eligible children from a distinct locality will avail regularly of the service to their nearest school.

As the number of eligible children offering for transport from the Fehanaugh and Gurrane areas is now ten, I have sanctioned the establishment of a special service for these children. This service will commence as soon as possible.
