Vol. 393 No. 5

Written Answers. - Lodging of Capitation Grants.

125.

asked the Minister for Education if any national schools have in the past two years failed to comply with the provisions in constitutions of boards of management of national schools that at least 25 per cent of the State capitation grant must be lodged in school bank accounts as a local contribution; and, if so, if she will give details thereof.

One school has not made the necessary certification to my Department that its local contribution for 1988 was lodged. For 1989, 41 schools have still to make this certification. In such cases the second instalment of the capitation grant is withheld until the certification is received. It would not be in accordance with usual practice to provide details of the schools involved.
