Vol. 394 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teacher's Redeployment Application.

227.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny included on the teachers' panel for redeployment; when a decision will be made in this particular case; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The redeployment scheme for secondary teachers is the outcome of an agreement between the religious-clerical authorities of Catholic secondary schools and the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland.

Under the terms of the scheme, an eligible teacher is a person who holds a contract of continuous employment in a Catholic secondary school. The teacher who is the subject of this question was appointed to a school, not covered by the scheme, in a temporary capacity between 12 January and 31 July 1987; and, therefore, is not eligible for inclusion in the panel for redeployment.

The person concerned was appointed to a post in a Catholic secondary school from 1 August 1987 but left it on 25 September, 1987.

Accordingly, he is not eligible for admission to the scheme.
