Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drung (County Donegal) School.

265.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention had been drawn to the unacceptable delay in dealing with the appointment of a contractor to build the proposed new amalgamated national school at Drung, County Donegal; if, in view of the anger of the community over the delay, she will appoint a contractor without delay; and the approximate date on which she will make such an appointment.

Tenders for the proposed central national school at Drung, County Donegal were received on 6 October 1989 and their examination is at an advanced stage. I am not in a position, at this stage, to say precisely when a contractor will be appointed but the remaining formalities will be concluded at the earliest possible date.

There has not been an undue delay in this case. The formal process of examining tenders and selecting a contractor is necessarily time consuming, but must be carried out correctly.
