I am advised that imposition of an absolute time limit on determination of appeals by An Bord Pleanála might be open to challenge on constitutional grounds. However, the scope for streamlining the appeals process with a view to minimising delays will be considered in the course of a general review of planning legislation which I intend to initiate as soon as possible.
