Vol. 394 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water Supplies.

30.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the anomaly which exists, as a result of the passing of the Fire Services Act, 1981, whereby Dublin County Council have responsibility for the provision of water for fire fighting purposes in the extra-municipal area, but Dublin Corporation, who supply the water under the Dublin Corporation Water Works Act, 1861, have no obligation to provide water under pressure for fire fighting; and the plans, if any, he has to remedy the situation.

I am aware of this anomaly and I have the legislation under review with a view to bringing forward appropriate amendments.
