Vol. 394 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cheeverstown (Dublin) Centre Dispute.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

46 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health the steps he is currently taking to resolve the impasse in Cheeverstown Centre, Dublin 16.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

57 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health the progress made to date in securing a solution to the dispute between the Eastern Health Board and Cheeverstown House, Dublin 16, as a result of which 60 badly needed beds in the centre remain unoccupied; if he intends to take any new initiatives in this dispute; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 46 and 57 together.

I have referred the issue of the management of the substantial public investment in Cheeverstown to the Attorney General. I am awaiting his advice. However, I hope that the initiatives which are being taken this week by representatives of the voluntary sector generally will avert the necessity for direct State action.
