Vol. 395 No. 4

Written Answers. - Cork Group Submissions.

Paul Bradford

Question:

106 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received a submission from a group (details supplied) in County Cork; if so, his views on same; and if he will make a decision on this matter.

A submission in relation to pier and harbour facilities from the group referred to by the Deputy has been received by my Department.

I have recently established a fishery harbour development committee within my Department to recommend criteria for assessing the various requests for grant aid towards harbour development in the fishery interest. The committee has written to all coastal local authorities, including Cork County Council, seeking proposals in order of priority, for works which they consider would be justified and for which they will be seeking grant aid. Cork County Council's response in the matter is awaited.

I have asked the Fishery Harbour Development Committee to give consideration to the submission in the context of replies from local authorities, including Cork County Council, when they are received.
