Vol. 396 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

107 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons in the Dublin city and county area who are in receipt of long term disability benefit; and the number of persons in the Dublin city and county area who are in receipt of long term unemployment assistance.

The information requested by the Deputy in so far as it is available is as follows. The number of disability benefit recipients in Dublin city and county at 16 January 1990 was 20,887. However, details of those on long term benefit are not available. There were some 38,300 persons in receipt of long term unemployment assistance — i.e. over 15 months duration — in Dublin city and county at 26 January 1990.
