Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Meath GAA Club.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

217 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education the reason a letter has issued from the Minister of State at her Department stating that there has been no application received from Meath Hill GAA Club for national lottery funds for developments taking place for 1990; and if no application was received, the reason a list sent to Meath County Council included an application from the Meath Hill GAA Club which was approved by Meath County Council.

An application received from Meath Hill GAA Club under my Department's capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities was forwarded to Meath County Council in December 1989 for consideration under the new arrangements introduced by Government for the capital grant scheme and the amenity grants scheme operated by the Department of the Environment.

The consideration of grant-aiding projects recommended by local authorities under these new arrangements is not a matter for my Department but appropriate to the Department of the Environment.
