Question:

35 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice when it is intended to initiate the process of court re-organisation, including the establishment of a new civil court of appeal, which was promised in The Programme for Government 1989-1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Work was commenced in my Department on proposals for the necessary legislation to establish a court of civil appeal.

The review of District Court venues, which I mentioned in the House already, is almost completed and I expect to announce proposals shortly for the closing of a number of venues.
