Question:

109 Mr. J. Mitchell and Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Finance the total amount of money spent in 1989 on development and maintenance of the Phoenix Park, Dublin 15; the amount provided in the 1990 Estimates; if he will give specific costs in both years of (1) moving the Phoenix monument to the centre of the main road (2) the adventure playground and (3) the new gate wall.

The total amount of money spent in 1989 on development and maintenance of the Phoenix Park was £1.55 million. The amount provided in the 1990 Estimates for this purpose is £1.64 million. The expenditure in 1989 on the three projects mentioned are as follows: (a) Phoenix monument £75,714.00; (b) adventure playground £52,377.00; (c) new gate wall £17,325.00.

The works will be completed in the current year and the total estimated costs are (a) £105,000, (b) £75,000, (c) £36,000.
