Vol. 396 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cork New Garda Headquarters.

Bernard Allen

Question:

110 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance the expected completion date of the new Garda headquarters in Cork; and if he will give details of the facilities which will be available thereat.

The contract for the erection of a new Garda divisional headquarters is scheduled for completion in April 1992.

In addition to the facilities ordinarily attached to divisional stations such as a communications suite, detective branch, traffic corps and cell block, the new building on completion will accommodate certain specialised units which include a fraud squad, mobile task force, immigration section, drug squad, and an expanded special detective unit.
The fines-on-the spot office and the warrants office for the Cork area will also be housed in the new building.
