Vol. 397 No. 1

Written Answers. - Milk Quota.

Frank Crowley

Question:

83 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was not awarded the appropriate milk quota based on his 1981-82 milk delivery, in view of the fact that a letter dated 10 March 1986 from his Department indicated that he would obtain 50 per cent of the difference, namely 11,539 gallons; and if there is any further milk quota due to him.

The person named qualified for a quota allocation from the national reserve which was set up in 1984. In accordance with the terms of that reserve he was granted an additional quota of 11,593 gallons which was equivalent to 52 per cent of the difference between the level of his milk deliveries in 1983 and those he made in 1981. This quantity is the maximum to which he is entitled and no further quota is due to him under that scheme.

I understand, however, that the person indicated has made an application as a small scale producer for an additional quota allocation out of the extra 11 million gallons available this year. The allocation of quota to this category of producers will be made shortly.
