Vol. 397 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

184 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Education if any moneys are allocated by her Department for a new community school at Dingle, County Kerry.

I have approved in principle the development of a single voluntary coeducational secondary school in Dingle to incorporate the Christian Brothers and Presentation secondary schools. My Department are currently awaiting the completion of educational work-sheets by the school authorities to enable a schedule of accommodation for the amalgamated school to be prepared. Therefore, the question of the allocation of funds for the project at this stage does not arise.

A number of grant payments have been made to the chairman of the board of management of St. Marnock's national school, Portmarnock, County Dublin in the past few months. There are still some claims for grant in respect of works carried out which need to be examined. This will be attended to at the earliest possible date.
