Vol. 397 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Cork New School Proposal.

Paul Bradford

Question:

77 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new national school at Baltydaniel, Mallow, County Cork; if, in view of the condition of the present school, she will give priority to the project as promised by her Department in December of 1988; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 8 November 1989 in connection with Baltydaniel national school, County Cork. The school authorities applied for planning permission for the project but in February 1990 my Department was informed that the local authority require some revisions in the plans. My Department's professional advisers are dealing with the matters raised and the revised drawings and other information requested will be submitted to the local authority at the earliest possible date.

I accept fully that the new school is required urgently but all the stages of architectural planning need to be dealt with and title to the site secured by the school authorities.
