Vol. 397 No. 6

Written Answers. - Meat Prices.

Ivan Yates

Question:

120 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he has any proposals for the beef management committee to oversee the prices paid by Irish meat factories in order to ascertain if prices are fair and in line with EC rates.

The question of prices paid for cattle is primarily a matter between the producers and the meat factories. Every possible action is being taken by my Department to ensure that all Community support mechanisms are used to sustain equitable prices to beef cattle producers.
