Vol. 397 No. 9

Written Answers. - Under-Age Drinking.

Michael Bell

Question:

194 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, he has to introduce legislation in relation to the control of under-age drinking; if he has had any correspondence with the National Vintners' Association in this regard; if his attention has been drawn to the concern in relation to this problem; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988, contains a comprehensive set of measures aimed at providing a statutory framework within which the problem of under-age drinking can be tackled. I am satisfied with these statutory measures.

I have had no correspondence from either of the trade groups representing vintners on the question of the under-age drinking aspects of the intoxicating liquor legislation.
